Thigh Highs have silicone bands in the top to hold them up without help - but stockings do not and require garter straps of some kind. Whether you prefer the look of a garter belt and stockings, or have trouble keeping thigh highs up and are trying something different - we have some suggestions on holding your stockings up with style.
How do you hold your stockings up? The most traditional way is a garter belt or a bustier with garter straps... but every day there are more and more ways to hold your stockings up. Here's a list of suggestions and we'd love to hear your favorites and why in the comments!
Garter Belts come in a variety of styles. There are pull ons, garters that attach with hook and eye closures at the back, 4 strap, 6 strap or 8 strap garter belts and even panties with garter straps attached.
Similar, but generally taller and/or longer - garter skirts are also open at the bottom but generally cover more of your leg for a more retro look.
Bustiers, or corsets, often come with removeable garter straps so that you can wear them with stockings or thigh highs that stay up on their own.
Also with removeable garter straps are garter panties. Usually full panties and not thongs, these give you one less layer of lingerie if you'd prefer to not deal with a garter belt but would like to wear stockings.
Our newest product that holds up your stockings are leg suspenders. Leg Suspenders look like old fashioned sock garters - adjustable straps that come in two pieces and wrap around your thighs to hold up your stockings.
Which is your favorite and why?

"I am 5'7 with very long, skinny legs. Most stockings only come to the middle of my thigh, and my garter belt cannot reach them. Since I have skinny legs, I cannot buy the large size stockings because they bag and don't stick to my legs well. What kind of stockings can I wear? "
I have a few suggestions. First, one thing you should know is that most, but not all, pairs of 100% Nylon stockings need to fit perfectly or they will bag because there is no stretch to them. This can cause problems because they don't always fit every body type.
My first solution is to buy stretch stockings. Stretch stockings are made with nylon and lycra so they will cling to almost any leg without bagging. While not 100% Nylon, these are still great stockings to wear and they also breathe easier than 100% Nylon.
Sheer Stretch Stockings
Lace Top Stockings
Sheer Seamed Stockings - even though these are 100% nylon, they are stretch stockings. These are the exception to the rule.
Another solution, for the tall woman who wrote us and those like her, are our Divine Divas stockings. These stockings are specifically made for taller women and are available in seamed and unseamed.
I hope that this has answered your question, please let me know if there are more questions concerning this topic in the comments.

On days like ours here today, where it's rainy and a little warmer than you'd like on a winter day, we like to suggest legwear that looks like a sweater, but isn't. Our sweater knit print will keep you in the winter mood, but is made of nylon so you don't feel too warm when the office heater is turned all the way up in anticipation of the snow to come.
Available in Over the Knee Socks and Leggings.

Black tights are an essential to any wardrobe - so why not our new Bamboo tights, available in black or gray? These tights are as soft as cashmere and very eco-friendly. Made of 52% Bamboo Cotton, 44% Microfiber and 4% Lycra for stretch, these tights will fit snugly and warmly on your legs and keep you fashionably warm this winter.
From the GREENCOTTON blog:
"From an apparel point of view, bamboo has additional advantages. Bamboo is twice as absorptive as cotton and can wick moisture and odor away from one’s body at twice the rate of conventional cotton. Depending on how it is manufactured, bamboo can be effectively used in a variety of products.
Furthermore, bamboo fibers produce some of the softest, most compelling fabrics today, not unlike cashmere or silk. In fact, ‘ecoKashmere’ coined by jonano and derived from bamboo is highly akin to cashmere or silk. Bamboo literally is the ecocashmere."

Legwear that is. Almost anything can be paired together with great fashionable results. Tights paired with crochet over the knee socks, or with leg warmers; leggings paired with scrunched knee socks, leg warmers or both at the same time!
Last winter I paired printed knee socks with our Ophelia footless socks and a pair of pumps for great results. The print just showed on the top of my foot and added just enough unique color to my outfit. Plus they kept my legs a touch warmer.
Below you'll find ideas for layering, and let us know in the comments if there are any pairings we missed.
